Wills – Set and Forget? At Your Peril!

We all know how important it is to have a Will – as well as the terrible consequences of not having one. There are plenty of horror stories of bitter family conflicts, lengthy court cases, and unintended distributions.

What we don’t tend to think about as much are the consequences of an out-of-date Will. Writing a Will is not a once-in-a-lifetime thing; life events can have a major impact upon your Will and you need to update them accordingly. Here are a few circumstances where you need to update your Will:

But in New Zealand a whopping 75% of the under-35s don’t have a will. This means that should they die, their families will have to jump through legal hoops to sort out their affairs.
